Armalith 2.0 is the latest fabric from French brand Armalith for protective wear, especially in motorcycling. The fabric is to combine the mechanical qualities of leather extreme resistance to cuts, traction, tears and abrasion, with the comfort of denim. The material also provides a high UV resistance that preserves its mechanical properties. Besides the technical features, the material is a denim that is soft, supple, comfortable, breathable and hydrophilic. It can accommodate all conventional denim textures, indigo dyes, prints and finishing at low temperatures.

At the heart of the fabric is a core of up to 50% UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) which is also used for space module re-entry ropes, military armour and mooring cables for offshore platforms. The UHMWPE core is covered with a cotton fibre using an exclusive and patented process, and combined with Lycra dualFX technology for powerful and durable stretch.

UHMWPE fibre requires half the energy to produce compared to aramids. The fibre used under the Armalith 2.0 patent is continuous, to ensure no energy-intensive cracking. In addition, no heavy metals are used in the pigments and the indigo is made using a slow, cold and waterless process. Finally, Armalith 2.0 is stated to be resistant to more than a thousand washes without loss of elasticity.

Célestin-Arthur Yoboue

A commercial engineer by training, Célestin-Arthur YOBOUE is the general director of the company Horizon Equipements. A company specializing in the study, design and implementation of industrial laundry projects since 2016. Managing Director of Modern Laundries on the Ivory Coast, he designed the linen treatment manual with a view to enabling all players in the medical linen circuit to respect the principles and rules that govern this profession in order to avoid cross-contamination. With this experience, he acquired the trust of several institutions including Jet Expo, Paris, where he represented Africa by hosting a theme on “Laundry in the African economy” in 2019.

In November 2023, he was the speaker principal at TEXCARE France where he speaks on the theme: “Africa, the El Dorado of manufacturers”. In addition to the seminars for which he provides training in Ivory Coast and in several African countries, the Cocody Abidjan university hospital center entrusts its company Horizon Equipements in partnership with the French group ATAUB architect, with the renovation and equipment work of its laundry room in 2020.

He is participating with the General Directorate of Public Hygiene in a reflection on the delegation of public services to 10 reference hospitals in the Abidjan district, on behalf of the Ministry of Health. To this end, he will receive the congratulations of the Ivorian Minister of Health Pierre DIMBA. He initiated in May 2022, the first African forum for textile maintenance professionals (FAPET), whose main objective is to bring together Africans in order to discuss issues, linked on the one hand to the professionalization of the profession and on the other hand to promote it. He was appointed in August 2023 by his peers from Algeria, Cameroon, Tunisia and Togo as President of the African Textile Maintenance Federation (FAPET) with the objectives of structuring, professionalizing and revitalizing the textile care industry in Africa.
