German player focuses on the future of laundry technology

In the world of industrial laundry technology, Germany-based Thielen Automation aims at acting as a central interface to connect manufacturers and at the same time providing vital data to support businesses in developing the “digital laundry”. The company was founded in 2009 and provided service and installation of clothing distribution systems. As from 2019, the company has been focused on the automation and optimization of laundry processes – since early 2024 under their current name.

The infrastructure for ‘digital laundries’ is based on modernization of existing facilities, integration of new, innovative systems and precise optimization/redesign of logistics processes. Although automation has been playing a role in laundries for some time now, some work still has to be done by people. As a result, shortages of personnel have pushed the development of robot technology as a new business area.

The company is also a founding member of the “Eifelkreis Digital” association. Together with well-known companies such as Stihl, Tesla and the Bitburger Brewery, a cooperation was created with the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). The aim of this cooperation is to make local companies fit for working with artificial intelligence (AI).
