Starting November 1th , 900 Stomerij.nl Textile Cleaner retail service points at SPAR, Plus and Albert Heijn, (food/groceries) will be rebranded as Dobbi service points. Dobbi has currently over 850 service points, JUMBO, Poiesz and various PostNL Retail points included. The collaboration creates the largest and most sustainable dry cleaning service & clothing repair platform in the Netherlands. Dobbi focusses on the transition to circular textiles. Clothing is still often thrown away because it has stains that can’t be removed or because it needs repair. That needs to change.
Market leader in the Netherlands
As a result of the collaboration, clothing and shoes can be returned to the (service) counter of more than 1750 affiliated stores in the Netherlands. The cleaning and repair is carried out by the best textile cleaners in the Netherlands. Stomerij.nl has completely modernized and made its cleaning locations more sustainable in recent years. The orders are collected by PostNL and returned to the store. Because PostNL already visits or near these stores every day, thousands of journeys per week and therefore CO2 emissions are saved.
Circular textiles
The clothing industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world. “Clothes are often thrown away because they have a stain or because they need repair. With 1750+ service points in the Netherlands, Dobbi makes professional cleaning and repair of clothing and shoes accessible to everyone,” according to Maurits Tiethoff and Ruben van Pelt, founders of Dobbi. An important development for the clothing industry will come in 2023 when a disposal fee on textiles is introduced through an UPV regulation. The objective of these European UPV regulations is to realize a circular textile chain by 2050. “As the market leader in the Netherlands, we are committed to extending the lifespan of clothing and shoes because this is an important part of the circular textile chain”.
