After a successful start of ‘Buy Back’ for sports products in autumn 2022, Decathlon Germany is now expanding its new circularity service. The sports company has announced a corporation with reverse.supply – a ‘recommerce’ start-up from Berlin that enables fashion brands and marketplaces to enter the second-hand market through a software platform. Together they will promote the resale of used sports clothing and shoes from the Decathlon brands.
In the early phase of Buy Back for textiles, sportswear from the company’s own brands Forclaz and Quechua from a purchase value of €35 will be accepted. Later on more brands and sports will be introduced. The service is an online process, so consumers who do not have a Decathlon store nearby can also use the service. The processed products are sold through the sports company’s website, but reverse.supply takes over all operational and technical tasks related to the resale of the products via its logistics centre in Berlin. Customers can register their items via the trade-in portal and send them to the Berlin logistics location where further processing will be carried out – from the quality assessment to the classification in price categories, to the preparation of the textiles and shoes. The goods are then resold directly via the online marketplace at decathlon.de.
