According to leading operators and independent analysts in Germany, the national laundry and dry-cleaning sector is developing slightly but steadily. Apart from the energy crisis, the modest growth figures are mainly due to the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and the current geopolitical instability in Europe. The ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine plays a dominant role in this respect.
However, chances are that the industry will show higher growth figures in 2023. In that case, the German textile care sector will be able to maintain its leading position in the EU market in both volume and revenue generated. According to Statista and DTV data, the current industry turnover is estimated at slightly more than €4 billion.
Despite the economic situation, leading market operators in Germany – such as Jensen, Alliance Laundry Systems and Kannegiesser – have not altered their plans for expansion in this market.
