Global Multi stakeholder OCA (Organic Cotton Accelerator) has recently announced its launch in Türkiye, illustrating a significant step in uniting players in this key production country.
As the only multi stakeholder initiative dedicated to organic cotton, the organisation assembles some 60 organisations. Based on its eight years’ experience at farm level in India and recent work in Pakistan—more than 100,000 farmers included across both countries— OCA aims at helping create the right conditions for farmers to manage a thriving organic business within Türkiye’s agricultural environment.
Identifying Türkiye as the world’s second-largest organic cotton producer, OCA is committed to accelerating organic cotton production while increasing the visibility of Turkish organic farmers in the global value chain. Its approach is specifically adapted to local conditions, addressing farm sizes, economic considerations for farmers, and local management practices. OCA’s work here is particularly focused on South-Eastern Anatolia and the Aegean region, areas known for their long history of organic production.
