Elis, a market leader in ‘circular services at work’, unveils its climate roadmap and related targets for 2030, underlining its commitment to contributing to a low-carbon society.
Elis’ ambition is to achieve the following objectives by 2030:
- Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 47.5% by 2030 compared to 2019;
- Reduce absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel and energy-related activities, upstream transportation and distribution, employee commuting, and end-of-life processing of sold products by 28% within the same time frame.
These targets have been endorsed by the Science Based Targets initiative, an international reference and a partnership between the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). . They are fully consistent with the objectives of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreements to contribute to limiting global warming to less than 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial levels at scope 1 and 2, and well below 2 °C on scope 3.
These climate objectives mark a new step in Elis’ sustainability strategy and climate actions. Elis Group has been working on reducing its energy consumption and CO2 emissions for many years. In 2022, Elis reduced thermal energy intensity intensity by 26% compared to 2010 in all European laundries and met and exceeded the target of reducing CO2 emissions (scopes 1 and 2) per kilogram of textiles supplied with a 25% reduction since 2010. Elis Group has also reduced CO2 emissions in absolute terms by 17.5% between 2019 and 2022 (Scopes 1 and 2).
These objectives complement the group’s recently unveiled pay off: “Delivering circular services at work for safety, hygiene and comfort – everywhere, every day, in a sustainable way”.
