Laundry quality in future times…

Despite the pandemic, lockdowns, economic and labour challenges as well as supply-chain issues, most  laundry operations have been able to process their goods adequately and could satisfy customers by supplying clean linens. As they are still working on recovery after all these hard times, new challenges have emerged:

In the hospitality market for instance, guest category shifts – from more business to more leisure -have increased the demand for ‘quality’. Many hotels try to keep up with this demand by investing in state-of-the-art equipment and better wash formulas. It requires more staff training, quality control measures, optimizing detergent/water and energy usage, maintenance and upkeep of equipment, streamlining processes, employee engagement and customer feedback. On the other hand, many linen rental companies state to have experienced a decline in caring after COVID. Staff seemed to rely on the machines to operate themselves without a real commitment to providing quality.

However, quality analysis at a laundry has to be done at operator level. In that respect training is vital, since many quality measures still come at human capital level. Conclusion: laundries can deliver quality levels during future challenges and retain customer satisfaction, by optimizing equipment, quality control and … paying attention to the human factor. Thus quality can be achieved and maintained .. always!
