Laundry firm Fishers – market leader for commercial laundry in Scotland – has seen its revenues rise by over £17 million in the last year since the business reopened its factory in Perth. The company lost 90% of its trade owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and had to close is Perth-located laundry in May 2020.
Fortunately, the firm’s recovery last year resulted in a re-opening of this facility creating 80 jobs.
The company saw revenue rise to £40.8m for the year to December 2022, compared to £23.8m in 2021. The 72% increase was mainly realised by the recovery of the hospitality sector from COVID-related restrictions. Although a 72 per cent increase in revenues year-on- year, significant costs increases, including for natural gas and electricity, had an impact on margins.
However, the firm states it is continuing its recovery in the current financial year, despite trading challenges. The accounts also show its workforce grew by more than 100 last year. Fishers now employs a total of 685 people across its sites.
