New figures released by BC SoftWear – a UK-based provider of Luxury Towels, Bathrobes and Footwear to prestigious Hotels, Spas and Laundries – reveal that almost half (45%) the bathrobes selected by hotels in 2023 were from the company’s eco-friendly SupremeSoft range, compared to just 17% in 2019. The firm’s energy saving ranges – SupremeSoft and SmartKnit – now represent 20% of its turnover, whereas this figure was only 8% in 2019.
While cotton offers extreme luxury, it absorbs a significant amount of water during laundering, which extends drying times. The uniqueness of the company’s eco-friendly range is that it uses knitted technology rather than traditional weaving. Thus, robes are soft cotton on the inside and have a luxury polyester velour finish on the outside, creating maximum comfort while reducing water absorption and drying times.
By minimising its use, the company’s robes and towels not only dry more quickly but also improve a hotel’s energy efficiency, supporting a more environmentally friendly approach to luxury. This development has also been acknowledged by a number of high-end Irish hotels that have selected the eco-friendly range this year. So, Teresa Dalton – the company’s Country Manager for Ireland – stated that the hospitality industry is actively seeking new ways to meet sustainability targets, without compromising on luxury.
