That was the outcome of a scientific study over 10 years ago in Europe. Later on these findings were checked again in view of changes in technologies, detergents and working methods and the same outcome was confirmed.
How can you achieve Best Practices?
For that purpose CINET set up the CERCLEAN (R) Certification scheme. To be able to demonstrate and proof a best practices (= sustainable) processing performance of RETAIL AND INDUSTRIAL LAUNDRY facilities. The CERCLEAN (R) Certificate is a pragmatic methodology to maximize efficiency and effectivity of the cleaning processing. This is available as a E-Learning Module with practical support, as well as a certification procedure leading up to the Official CINET CERCLEAN (R) Certificate.
What are the most important measures to be taken working with PERC to assure best practices?
A scientific study amongst over 200 locations and neighbours of drycleaners using PERC in the Netherlands over two years, revealed that seven working methods were the key-factors almost assuring a Safe & Sustainable Processing in Professional Textile Cleaning (PTC):
1. Optimization of the drying procedure
2. Detect and repair leakages
3. Improve the barrier between the drycleaning shop and adjacent buildings
4. Improvement of ventilation (pipes/equipement)
5. Adequate contact water treatment
6. Good storage of solvents/chemicals
7. Correct distillation residue handling.
Additionally, in general the following points are applicable:
- Using 4th Generation Equipement or higher,
- regular (preventive) maintenance,
- organize optimal machine operation and
- good housekeeping.
- To operate a textile cleaning facility safely and sustainably, education & training of workers is essential.
