Best practices: “A good feeling” in Germany by Bertsch

In Germany, Bertsch Hotelwäsche offers contract textiles for clinics, nursing homes, hotels, laundries, the catering sector and many other sectors. Their slogan “a good feeling” applies to the entire company and is to underline the service concept towards customers. In a recent interview in a German trade magazine managing directors Robert Bertsch sen. and Robert Bertsch jun. explained the company’s success and defined current challenges.

The company was founded in the Rhine-Main area in 1986 and this central location has offered ideal conditions to serve all regions of Germany and beyond. After the move to new headquarters in 2016, it was possible to combine and centralize administration and warehousing. In the interview it was stated that constant development and process optimization have been vital in the past decades. One of the biggest challenges in recent years has been to constantly identify current trends and adjust the product range.

Nowadays, sustainability appears to be a major challenge. Many processes have to be examined, adapted and optimized. Besides, strongly fluctuating freight rates and long delivery times must be carefully considered and calculated, especially since cargo ships are currently unable to cross the Suez Canal. All in all, a high level of flexibility and adaptability is required as well as longer transit times for warehouse planning and forward transactions.
