Sustainability & Circularity drivers for (NEW) PTC Services

The speed of digitalization has increased substantially and Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems open a new way of organizing, communication, fact finding and processing at a speed almost beyond comprehension.

As a result also data on sustainable processing in PTC are more accurate and leading to a shift of mindset with consumers. Also when not proclaimed by authorities this shift of mindset is developing worldwide and seems irreversible.

1e Challenge

For PTC the first challenge is to optimize their processing from customer to customer. So not only cleaning, but also including logistics, use of (packaging) materials, even the way customers use linen and workwear in their own facilities. This requires, knowledge and expertise on the full process, update equipment, modern IT systems and well educated (young) people.

2e Challenge

The next step is evaluating how changing market demands regarding sustainability, but also regarding personal services, can lead the way to new opportunities. The demand for second hand garments is increasing rapidly in the EU, meanwhile stimulated by new legislation to reuse, reduce and redesign new textiles to avoid the enormous waste and to bring down textiles as the worlds second highest polluter.

Many initiatives are experimented meanwhile and some are discussed April 16th, next at the GBPA business modelling session at Interclean in Amsterdam (NL). Increasing the lifetime of usage and facilitate reuse of waste are just two of them. PTC companies have a great opportunity to develop new initiatives for using textiles in the most sustainable and circular way, hence contribute substantially to the challenges of societies today and tomorrow. Current Challenges are high, Opportunities are Great.
