In order to draw attention to the recycling and upcycling of textiles as an important sustainability solution, CWS Workwear has launched its ‘upcycling fashion competition. Heike Seltmann, the company’s Chief Commercial Officer explains that when customers have worn out their workwear, it doesn’t mean the end and new life can be created into the textiles on various channels.
Last February, the company called for creative designs for discarded CWS workwear with the upcycling fashion competition and 45 designs were submitted. In front of 120 fashion-loving guests, the 17 models presented outfits that were largely inspired by street style and urban fashion. As starting materials, the designers used overalls in grey, red and blue, green tunics, white trousers, a black blazer and a black polo shirt. They chose their favourite parts from the materials in order to design and tailor new clothing.
