According to the Mercantile Registry, Mr. Jeff, the Spanish franchise platform for laundries and other businesses, initiated a voluntary bankruptcy process on May 19th last. This was subsequently approved by the court and officially registered on the 26th of May last. Employees were unpaid since September 2022.
Mr. Jeff, the Valencia-based laundry service startup, was featured in the “10 Spanish Startups to watch in 2018.” In 2019 they were successful in fundraising of €10.4 million to support their expansion. Even in 2020, funds were received to set up an official launch in the US.
Al together Mr. Jeff acquired in 2018 – 2020 some 28 million euro to set up a startup in over 30 countries. Recently the startup filed for bankruptcy because it appeared impossible to continue, since the company was unable to finalize a funding with two international funds.
Employees have filed lawsuits for non-payment in Valencia courts and internally the company faced several legal problems amongst others Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and Spain.
