Post-Covid demand recovery in the leisure hospitality segment has been incredible. No surprise that this development has attracted increased investor interest in holiday resorts. Dave Goldstein – managing director at KSL Capital Partners – noted that although a large number of its hotel businesses either shut down completely or closed to a large extent, the company has seen an almost full recovery in demand levels.
Goldstein: “Leisure didn’t go anywhere—people still want to go on vacation, they still want to gather, get together and have fun.” However, although the lucrative leisure segment attracts more and more attention, evolution is becoming an increased necessity. In fact, some of that evolution has already come from a growing travel trend “bleisure” which is a blend of business and leisure.
Companies are adjusting many of their resorts for the ‘bleisure’ type of travel, because the trend has become more popular post-Covid. Investors look at this business model in every hotel they participate in, when they design their hotels and their facilities. In short, most investors really see good potential in this type of business, because there are still a lot of employees working remotely.
