“I hate plastic” Campaign

On-demand laundry and dry-cleaning service, ihateironing, intends to end single-use plastic waste and launched its new #IHatePlastic campaign. The initiative introduces premium reusable covers to replace single-use plastic bags for delivering freshly cleaned garments.

The company had already introduced a reusable cover renting strategy in 2020. The covers could be rented and returned for a deposit fee of £3. Furthermore, the dry-cleaning service ran a free trial where customers in the UK city of Brighton received the covers for free. This trial had to test the support for expanding this project across the entire business. Based on over 150,000 reusable covers issued over the past four years and an amazingly positive customer adoption, the company has decided to take the leap and make reusable covers a permanent, company-wide standard.

The new reusable covers are designed to be returned by customers with their next orders and can be used repeatedly for future deliveries on hangers. The launch has also received strong support from the company’s network of dry-cleaning centres, all of which are currently transitioning to the new covers by slowly getting rid of single-use plastic. By using reusable covers, they’re challenging traditional practices and proving that eco-conscious solutions can be implemented without losing  service quality or convenience.
