An American Dream came true …. Division Laundry & Cleaners Expands

In the US, San Antonio-based Division Laundry & Cleaners, Inc. recently reported to have acquired the Texas-based commercial laundry facilities of Angelica. The transaction includes two facilities and their depots and enables the San Antonio company to expand into adjacent markets and strengthens its market position in Texas.

At the moment the family owned business has approximately 250 employees and expects to increase with 200 positions. The company was founded in 1939 by Peter G. Garcia – an immigrant from Mexico and the youngest of 17 children. He started with  shining shoes and selling newspapers at the age of 8 in San Antonio and later developed an award-winning business with the third generation now in business.  In 2001, a fire destroyed its San Antonio facility and it took the company two years to rebuild. After that a 500% growth in business soon emerged and the company has repeatedly been awarded water conservation and environmental awards from the local main water utility.

The regional healthcare industry has enabled growth in the commercial laundry business and the company also services (large) hospitality clients. Patrick R Garcia – the company’s President states that although growth is important and it will strengthen relationships with large healthcare systems, this acquisition ensures continuity for customers by using one vendor.
