COFREET Survey: 75% of French People Find Textile Care Labels Useful

COFREET, French Committee of Labeling for Textile Care published the results of the 4 th   edition of the barometer conducted with Ipsos: “The textile care label and the French”.

Among the main findings published in Entretien Textile, 75% of respondents say that the textile care label is useful. 71% of French people say they follow the care advice mentioned on the label. The price (57%) and the quality-price ratio (57%) remain decisive criteria in the purchase of a garment. The presence of a sustainable development label on labels is up significantly compared to 2016 (41 versus 33% in 2016). Likewise, the mention of the country of origin is considered by more and more interviewees as important (48% vs 42% in 2018). 68% of French people would like to see care advice appearing on the label to protect the environment and 64% would like to know the environmental impact of the garment (like the nutri-score).

While the French remain concerned about saving money, a majority of them adopt more responsible washing practices with the primary aim of protecting the environment
