In order to accelerate customer service, as well as fight labor shortages and rising costs, US-based CD One Price Cleaners in Minnesota has opened a locker-first location. The store is the first of its kind for the franchise that is operating 40 locations. Is designed to meet changing customer needs, as well as to test the concept.\
To use the store, customers create an account on CD One’s in-store kiosk or mobile app, drop off their garments in a bin, and receive a text message when the garments are ready for pickup. That same text message includes a locker number and a four-digit code to find and pick up their clean items. The initiative comes at a time when dry cleaners are experiencing labour shortages and rising costs.
The new store is to provide customers flexibility. According to the company, it enables 24 hours a day pickup and drop-off. According to Tom Ryan, the company’s vice president of franchise development, the drycleaning and laundry landscape is changing rapidly and thus they want to make sure to be continuing to be ahead of the curve while providing excellent service for their customers,
