Dutch textile sector; Sustainability plan 2050!

The Dutch textile sector has developed a plan entitled “Towards a circular chain”. The starting point was how to ensure that the Dutch clothing and textile sector is fully circular in 2050 and that consumers can trust that their purchase is sustainable? The plan outlines the steps that will be taken to speed up developments in the sector and to become circular.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management is working out its own vision on sustainable clothing and textiles and has come up with a policy program. The government wants the Dutch economy to be fully circular in 2050 and is therefore seeking coordination with the business community.

The sector plan shows that the sustainability and circularity sector is increasingly becoming part of its business models. Among other things, they focus on innovation, making more and better recycled materials available and becoming more affordable. Knowledge transfer in sustainable product development and design makes awareness of opportunities and acceleration of their application possible.
