This is evident from the most recent cost index conducted in Germany. The increase in costs has various reasons. The increased personnel costs in particular make it more expensive for entrepreneurs within the sector.
Personnel, textiles and energy costs increased by 3 index points in 2018 and by 4 index points from the end of 2017 to March 2019. Compared to the base year 2010, the total costs of the textile service industry were 16 index points higher in March 2019.
Next to increasing costs for textiles and energy, it is striking that in comparison to previous years it is personnel costs which are the strongest cost drivers. They have by far the largest weight among the cost categories in the industry, so that their increase of 5 index points since 2017 has had a particular impact on the overall cost trend.
