Syrris is a leading company in flow chemistry, batch chemistry reactor systems, chemical scale-up, and reaction calorimetry solutions. It provides chemistry products to a range of R&D chemists and engineers, including the Xeros Technology Group, a company specializing in sustainable polymer solutions to the commercial laundry industry.
Robert Bird, R&D project manager at Xeros states that his company has been using Syrris’ Orb Pilot, a modular jacketed reactor, to aid development of its XOrbs since early 2018, thus increasing its production capacities immensely. Bird: “I work within the polymer development team, where we have produced novel XOrbs, the spheroidal-shaped polymers which can be added to a wash load in order to create a gentle mechanical action, helping to remove dirt and stains using less detergent and at lower temperatures, which saves water and reduces cost.”
The Syrris’ Orb Pilot system is stated to enable XOrbs production in the volumes required for use in large industrial washing machines, rather than having to manufacture many smaller batches to yield the necessary quantities. Bird:” In the space of a week, we can now produce more XOrbs that we could have done in two years without the Pilot Orb system.”
