UK-based Laundryheap – the on-demand laundry and drycleaning platform founded in 2014 – recently announced a $3.5m Series A funding round.
The raise is the result of a period of steady growth where the company has focused on building a sustainable model based on repeat custom. Rising interest following the outbreak of the pandemic has led to further market growth and a series of successful expansions to new markets during 2020, including: the USA, Singapore, Sweden and across the Middle East. The platform is now present in eleven international markets. In the US – with operations in five cities, month on month growth of over 30 per cent is reported; in the Middle East – with launches in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait – customer growth has tripled in the last six months.
During the pandemic, the company introduced new ‘virus wash’ services and extra-hot cleaning offerings, as well as expanded support for their B2B clients. Apart from that they focused on making their supply chain more sustainable through green cleaning techniques and low-carbon transport. The enterprise will use the funding to accelerate expansion to additional international markets, and at the same time retain focus on sustainable growth and profitability.
