A brand new state-of-the-art laundry of the University Hospital in Poitiers, France has opened its doors last month. The University Hospital in Poitiers (Centre Hospitalier de Laborit) uses eco-friendly technologies and has a capacity of 18 tons a day. The laundry consumes roughly 40% less water, gas and electricity than a traditional laundry.
It has also introduced the Autoliv process “clean and dry sorting” that eliminates the handling on behalf laundry workers of dirty laundry, offering high workplace safety in a field where contamination is always a problem. Furthermore, the laundry of the University Hospital of Poitiers daily washes about 6,000 professional clothes, a ton of household linen, as well as the clothes of the residents. Each piece is identified either by electronic chip or by a bar code system.
