UK-Based Laundries Foresee Inevitable Price Increases

Commercial laundries with hospitality and leisure industry customers anticipate that cost increases and labour shortages will undermine the recovery after lockdowns and will force them to raise their prices.

According to Textile Services Association (TSA) – representing commercial laundries in the UK, commercial laundries had lacked significant government aid helping them through lockdowns. Besides, volumes dropped by up to 80 per cent. On top of that they are being hit by substantial price increases. Labour shortages have led to wages going up by between 10 and 25% and chemical costs are up 15 %. Many laundries are also supplying textiles services such as linen hire to the hospitality industry. Here prices are soaring: sheeting and bedding going up by 55% and freight costs by 300 %.
