UK-based Oxwash partners with Deliveroo

Oxwash, the sustainable laundry and dry-cleaning company from Oxford UK, is teaming up with Deliveroo to trial a pioneering collect/wash/re-use service for takeaway containers in Cambridge this summer. Deliveroo is the online platform company that delivers food from restaurants straight to customers’ doors.

The collaboration was announced at the recent eBike Summit, held at Wolfson College, University of Oxford in early April. Kyle Grant of Oxwash: “We are very excited to announce our plans for the project and hugely grateful to the entire Oxwash team.” As an Oxford University PhD student, he launched Oxford’s first bicycle laundry service as he was left disappointed and frustrated by the quality of the existing laundry services provided by the Oxford Colleges. Grant: “When I spoke to friends at other colleges I got the same story.”

The service allows students, and by now all Oxford residents, a sustainable solution as their clothes are collected and delivered by bike. Besides all products that are used to clean clothes do not contain solvents and are consequently environmentally friendly. When launching the company, Grant stated: “We are trying to help Oxford become traffic and emission-free in our own way – it’s one of our core business aims”.
