UK textile care businesses ready to help Ukraine

The appalling situation in Ukraine is creating a human tragedy which we have not seen in Europe since the Second World War. Over 1 million Ukrainians have fled the country in what can be considered the fastest exodus this century, according to United Nations figures.

Many people and business ask themselves what they can do to help. In the UK for example the Defence Secretary is asking the British people to donate money through the Ukrainian embassy to be spent on weaponry and aid, or to volunteer with charitable organisations such as The British Red Cross, UNICEF and the Save The Children Emergency Fund. The UN estimates more than four million refugees may need protection and assistance in neighbouring countries such as Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova in the months to come.  These people will need clothing, bedding and other items. In many countries meanwhile initiatives have been taken by the industry.
