Healthcare laundry workers across all NHS and care home processing sites in the UK will soon receive stylish PPE to wear during their work. Carrington Textiles – a leading producer of workwear fabrics in the UK – is supplying over 30,000 metres of specialised healthcare fabric in more than 10 colours to big fashion names as the UK unites to fight Covid-19.
The company not only supports fashion brands as they adapt their production facilities to make personal protective equipment (PPE) for the NHS and wider healthcare sector, they also help local sewing groups around the country with donations to make the clothing. The fabrics are used for making scrub suits, surgical gowns and clinical hoods and are industrially launderable. This means garments can be reused, while avoiding the environmental impact disposable PPE can cause.
The fashion companies turned (part) of their production lines to produce much-needed PPE and create medical grade fabric scrubs garments for the NHS, care homes and other businesses in need. All garments will be donated free of charge to (local) hospitals. Some brands have also taken steps to utilize its supply chain, stores and partners to help distribution of the garments.
