LOSA CLEAN – Industrial laundry heading to 4.0

Losa Clean has made the choice to move into the 4.0 industry era by means of artificial intelligence, but not at the expense of its operators. The La Rochelle based laundry serves the markets by offering high quality of personalized service to conquer markets such as hotels, campsites, restaurants and caterers. They also handle workwear and sports equipment and are a proud partner of ASR rugby La Rochelle. Losa Clean provides their customers a global offer, consisting of the rental and maintenance of textiles, but also the supply of hygiene materials and a wide range of entrance mats.

Quality oriented

Losa Clean’s quality is inspired by the guidelines of the ISO 9001 standard and the necessary tools in order to continuously improve the quality of its services. Staff are sensitized and know which procedures to follow in case of non-conformity, which guarantees a result of impeccable quality. With a completely revised production tool, the site offers its employees a redeveloped and enlarged space of 800m2 .

There are multiple objectives: to reduce the environmental impact, guarantee hygiene, ensure a high quality result, improve working conditions, increase productivity, and save on energy. From 600kg of linen treated every day, the recent investments have enabled Losa Clean to grow to ten tons a day.

In the last ten years, Losa Clean has expanded its workforce and presence and its area. Today they serve in and around La Rochelle on a radius of approximately fifty kilometers. The geographical proximity to the customers in the agglomeration of La Rochelle also allows them to be very reactive and to reduce the storage problems that they may encounter.

By investing in machinery, they can meet stronger demands in terms of tonnage of textile. The laundry has acquired a Kannegiesser “Power trans” washing tunnel, and plans to purchase a complete ironing train, a dryer and a sponge and bathrobe folder from the same manufacturer. The goal is to improve both quality and productivity and the comfort of the operators.

Another aspect developed is the partnership principle, which helps streamline maintenance. According to the laundry’s director Eric Hornig: “An electrician will be soon recruited to act more in the preventive rather than the curative. He will receive a complete technical training and will also participate in the daily maintenance: adjustments, aspiration, cleaning, changing tapes. It’s important to avoid any break in production, especially in high season.” Losa Clean continues to grow, and its competitors are watching closely. Eric Hornig plans to integrate the Circle of the Own: “Because the strength of a motivated network and competent to keep our activity alive and to enhance our know-how. ”

An eco-friendly approach

In addition, they have a real ecological approach to the business, including compliance with RABC standard. Just as important, the choice of the suppliers that allows them to offer products of superior quality certified by Ecolabel.

“Nowadays, to optimize energy efficiency, while preserving the environment, the main lever to operate is that of energy by referring to the 50 001 norm. Fundamental work has been carried out together with our suppliers, who attend to our requirements. The business process improvement project has been executed in three phases over a period of two years. Total renewal of equipment, machines equipped with latest generation burners, Zero Steam. Our tunnel washer at very low water consumption shows good practices (recycling and recovery, heat exchanger thermal, boiler without steam, modern and rational dosing system).”

They have also paid particular attention to the lighting system, now under low voltage. A dust extraction unit and an auto washer have recently made their appearance. They have partnered with a company that recycles linen and deteriorated textiles. Wastewater is reused through the heating of the water inlet and the recycling. The fleet of vehicles (8) is used rationally according to the routes and frequency of delivery, with optimization of each vehicle (trucks, vehicles light weight less than 7.5 t., light vehicle and electric vehicle for the city). The drivers are trained in eco driving. Proximity, responsiveness and billing IT management model to real consumption are assets that appeal to our customers, “says manager Erick Hornig.
